First Tom, Now Kirstie

Shortly after Tom Cruise's interview with Matt, Matt, Matt, Matt Lauer on the Today show, I came across an article (I forgot where - yes, sloppy of me) describing the appearance by writing that there is little that is more embarrassing than watching a person passionately argue over a subject that they clearly know nothing about. Add Kirstie Alley to that list:

"You're talking about a group of evil, evil people who have got evil tools that they're using, who are selling in the guise of lovely little cartoon characters on TV," she said, referring to the little happy-faced Zoloft blobs. "Underneath that is at best ignorance and at worst really something pretty evil."

That's right. An actress knows better than people with medical degrees that have, you know, studied human physiology for years.

At one of the few pauses we asked: Have you ever been in therapy?

"Are you kidding? No. I've had these viewpoints my whole life," she said. "I had personal experience in my life of meeting psychologists and psychiatrists, and they're lunatics."
Along with MATT LAUER, we don't know, we don't understand. So we sat there quietly and learned about the billion-dollar psychotropic drug industry, the rate of suicide among psychiatrists, the recent growth in electroshock therapy and the role of drugs in school shootings.

"It's a legitimate war," Ms. Alley said. "It is a war. And it is controversial because you're either in or you're out. If you think it's good to give kids heroin, Prozac - I mean, heroin, cocaine, crack - then you belong in the group that likes Ritalin, Prozac, Zoloft, all these. This is the psych-think."

Right again. The shrinks are the lunatics. The brainwashed cult member and college drop out knows better than the doctors.

It's interesting how the NY Times article describes the moment where it's like a switch has been flipped in her mind. I've seen it before in Tom Cruise interviews (the Matt, Matt, Matt one, for example) All you need to do is bring up psychiatry, and suddenly Scientologists go batshit, and cannot shut the fuck up.

That's what people tend to do when they don't have a leg to stand on - get desperate and clutch for straws by attacking the other person, like the way Cruise told Lauer he didn't "understand" psychiatry without having the slightest clue of Lauer's personal knowledge and experience with the subject.

Don't address the argument. Don't answer direct questions. Attack the source, personally if you must.

I fear one day Tom's gonna shoot someone. A psy maybe?

I will be glad, you know why?
because instead of understanding or helping, you are willing destruction to him and trashing him

I wish he shoot people like that ; sorry, but I am serious.
